If you’ve explored my website, watched any of my painting videos or seen my artwork at one of my exhibitions, you’ll probably have noticed two things straight away: lots of colour and lots of paint splashes.
Over the years, I’ve developed a painting style that combines pop art portraiture with Jackson Pollock-inspired action painting, creating vibrant artworks inspired by music and pop culture. But how did this style actually come about, and why did I choose to take my artwork in this direction?

The first painting I ever created in my signature style was a portrait of The Beatles.
At the time, it wasn’t intended to become a business, a collection, or even a long-term creative project. It was simply a fun experiment for my bedroom fun while I was back in the UK for a few weeks after 6 months living in Singapore, while waiting for my next Singapore work visa to be processed.
I’d had the idea to combine a pop art portrait with the energy and spontaneity of Jackson Pollock’s famous action painting technique. The result surprised me. The painting captured something I hadn’t seen before – a combination of portraiture, movement, colour and controlled chaos that felt completely unique.
After finishing the Beatles piece, I immediately wanted to explore the idea further. I was 25 and I was looking to create some sort of commercial venture for myself, and I figured that this painting looked very commercial and that my natural painting ability was an asset I could lean into.
One painting became two, then three, and eventually an entire collection.
Having started with The Beatles, I decided to stick with the music theme, and painted some more of my favourite music icons – next up the Gallagher brothers, Stevie Wonder and Paul Weller. Partly because music has always been a huge part of my life, but also because these are people who already have strong emotional connections with audiences.
I wanted to celebrate some of the world’s favourite music icons in a way that felt completely different from traditional portrait artwork.
Rather than aiming for realism, my goal became creating artwork that captured energy, personality and emotion.
One of the defining features of my work is the use of colour. From the beginning, I wanted my paintings to feel vibrant, uplifting and full of life. I’d begun with Jackson Pollock’s action painting technique, which I discovered via The Stone Roses album cover, and decided to combine this with a vibrant colour palette.
Every artwork combines multiple layers of acrylic paint, often using dozens of different shades and colour combinations within a single piece. Colour instantly became one of the key pillars of my brand.
I wanted people to instantly recognise my work not just from the subject matter, but from the sense of energy and optimism that runs throughout the collection.
The importance of colour became even more significant during 2020. Like everyone else, I experienced the uncertainty and disruption of the Covid lockdowns. The world felt increasingly grey and restricted.
At the time, I spent a lot of time thinking about what I wanted my artwork to represent. I realised that I wanted my paintings to be the complete opposite of the negativity and uncertainty people were experiencing. That became a guiding principle for my work.
I consciously pushed my colour palettes further, experimented with more vibrant combinations and focused on creating artwork that felt energetic, optimistic and uplifting.
Every piece in my collection is hand-drawn and hand-painted using acrylic paint on canvas. The physical process of painting is a huge part of what makes the work unique.
The splashes, drips and layers aren’t digitally created or generated by artificial intelligence. They’re the result of real paint interacting with the canvas in unpredictable ways.
That sense of movement and spontaneity is something I’ve always wanted to preserve. It’s one of the reasons my work continues to evolve and why every painting feels slightly different.
Today, my artwork has been exhibited internationally and collected by people around the world, but the core idea remains exactly the same as it was when I painted that first Beatles portrait.
To create colourful, energetic artwork that makes people stop, smile and look a little closer.
What began as a simple creative experiment has grown into an entire collection, a business and a brand – but the goal has never changed. To create artwork that feels vibrant, positive and full of life.
