In 2016, 15-year-old Natasha Ednan-Laperouse tragically lost her life on a flight after suffering a severe allergic reaction to sesame seeds hidden in the dough of a baguette. The packaging failed to list sesame as an ingredient, and the seeds weren’t visible, making them impossible to detect.
In the wake of this heartbreaking event, Natasha’s family launched a powerful campaign to improve food labeling laws in the UK. Their efforts led to the introduction of Natasha’s Law, which came into force in October 2021. The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation – established in her memory – has a bold mission: to end allergy-related illness, beginning with food allergies, and to help build a safer world for everyone.
As someone living with a serious peanut allergy, I am personally passionate about this cause. That’s why I was pleased to support the Foundation by contributing a signed & framed stretched canvas print of my original The Beatles pop art painting to an auction held at the Broadland District Council Civic Reception in my hometown of Norwich on Friday 14th March 2025.
The evening was a great success, raising £3,800 for the Foundation.
