This is a Roy Lichtenstein-style pop art painting featuring my signature Jackson Pollock-inspired action painting paint splatter technique. It captures Noel in his High Flying Birds era, painted in a colour scheme inspired by his “Who Built The Moon?” album cover.
Having started this painting back in February 2024, it’s by far the longest time I’ve worked on a single painting! It took that long Oasis even got back together.. It’s also my largest painting for 5 years, and I’m delighted with the finished piece.
I love the juxtaposition between the action-painted background areas with all of the chaotic splashes of paint, and the neat and precise lines and contours of the face. This combination of the Jackson Pollock style and the pop art aesthetic is the unique feature of my paintings. These were actually ‘rival’ art movements back in the mid-20th century – and this is a combination of styles that I have not come across from any other artist.
