Celebrating 6 years of painting with By Kerwin 💥🥳

It’s 6 years this weekend since I completed my Beatles painting, which was the first in my entire Jackson Pollock-inspired pop art collection 🎨 This painting experiment was only meant to be a fun thing to go on my bedroom wall! But it worked out so well it inspired me to create a whole collection of painted pop culture icons ⭐️ and I’ve been on a mission to get my artwork Here, There & Everywhere ever since 💥

It was painted in April 2019, and I launched my business at the end of that year once I had my first 12 pop art portrait paintings completed, which felt like the minimum number to get started with. Five and a bit years on, it’s good to Get Back to Norfolk for Easter this weekend where this was painted!

💡🧑‍🎨🖌️ In 2022 I decided I had to add 'Queen B' to my collection as one of the most iconic female voices & icons of the present era. I was inspired by the Beyoncé Sainsbury's meme a few years ago for the colours - plus there's a really nice & subtle texture with the different layers & shades of paint in the background. And lots of detail for a fiery and stylish tribute that really POPS ⭐

💡🧑‍🎨🖌️ I painted Richard Ashcroft in 2020 - The Verve are one of my favourite bands so he was one of the first names on my list of who I wanted to paint.

The colours were inspired by the blue hues featured on the artwork for The Verve's debut album, 'A Storm In Heaven'. The mysteriously deep blue and turquoise blue hues seem to really capture the essence of Richard Ashcroft and the spirit of his musical career.
